Abstract

The human brain is exquisitely sensitive to a lack of oxygen which is considered the primary stimulus for the initiation and propagation of damaging free radical reactions. As a consequence, the brain becomes “sore and swollen” and the way it fits inside your skull may have implications for the pathophysiology of migraine and stroke. The “loose-fit” “pea-brain” appears to be neuroprotective…and may also improve your chances of summiting Mt. Everest!!!
